I was on a Dutch forum yesterday and there was a bad anti-rossi atmosphere over there..They reckoned 70% of the Rossi fans are only fan of Rossi because he wins!! Like everyone is a fan of Schumacher because he always wins (personally I'm NOT a fan of Schumacher). Anyway...what I want to know is: WHEN DID YOU BECOME A FAN OF VALENTINO ROSSI AND WHY?

Well..here's my own little story of how I became a die-hard fan of Mr. Rossi....
It was on a sunday morning....I was laying in bed recovering from a huge hip surgery. I was bored (you don't see many friends when you're injured) and was changing channels on TV. On Eurosport I saw that a race was just about to start and thought I would have a look. As a kid I watched the races on TV when my dad was watching. Never had a favorite rider. I was for the rider with the nicest colorscheme ;D
But back to the race. Tobey and Jules were going on and on about this fella 'Valentino Rossi'. I got annoyed by it..He was way in the back and the guys up front were doing good. But Valentino Rossi worked his way up after a terrible start. Passing riders anywhere on the track..'playing' with them. When he finally was leading the pact he already stole my heart. But...I was shocked..he fell back to the 8th position.. "oh no" I screamed, my dad, who joined me watching the race said not to worrie "he will win..just wait".. And indeed..that little fella who was only 18 played with the others riders and won just as my dad said..
Never missed a race again ;D
The race I'm talking about is the GP of Jerez in 1997

Hi Sandra,
I am a huge fan of Valentino, my "son", since 2001. I "discovered" him by changing channels on TV, just like you. I like him so much because he is so funny, cute and real little rascal. :-) Of course, I am also a huge fan of him because he is ever so talented. I think, his career as a motorbike rider is absolutely amazing - and he is still so young. This boy is fantastic!!!! :-) I can only say: "God bless you, Valentino, and always take care!"
Regards,
Maria-Luisa (Valentino's "fan-mum")
PS: Please give him a big, big hug from me.

I became a fan on Vale a few years ago because of my dad. Is that enough? Do I need to write more?

I do not remeber Vale from his 125cc days, however, he made a huge impression on me when he move up to the 250cc class.
Not because he was winning, at that time, but more because he would try these banzai moves into the first corner that would put him into the kitty litter(along with others...oops). He tried so hard, learned the limits, and always progressed.
He was so entertaining because he kept you on the edge of your seat, and his podium antics showed he had huge personality.
I knew he was a great talent waiting to blossom. ;D

I don`t know the exact date or race when I got Rossi-addicted. But it started about six or seven years ago. I stayed at my cousin`s and we were watching some motorace at a sundaymorning(we had never looked any GP before!). At the end of the race the most cute looking boy putted of his helmet and all the comments were about this wonderfull guy, a new natural talent named Valentino Rossi. And that was it. The way he played with his bike and with the public, it was stunning. I never letted and never will let him go

Well....i became a rossi fan a couple of months ago. I was at my girlfriends house watching tv. I was flipping through the channels and i came across a bike race. I started watching it and i notices one rider who kept on moving up positions at almost every turn. I later found out it was valentino rossi. i went back to my girlfriends house a week later and saw another race with valentino in it where he did the same thing. i guess it was his riding skills that made me a fan.

I became fan I think a year ago, I was changing channels and I saw a motorrace. There was this one guy named Valentino Rossi, who was riding great. 2 weeks later I saw another motorrace and again Valentino was up first, I was curious for who this man was and I decided to look for information on the internet. I found out much things about him that's he had a great personality that he was the youngest rider ever to win the worldtitle in all three classes (That info I got from this website ;D ;D) and since then I'm a huge fan of Valentino Rossi -xxx- Marieke
