Just read...
Toni Elias looks all but certain to ride a Yamaha in the 2005 MotoGP world championship after making his YZR-M1 debut at Valencia today.
The Spaniard's first appearance on premier-class machinery came shortly after the news that he and Roby Rolfo have been replaced by Hector Barbera and Jorge Lorenzo, at the Fortuna Honda 250cc team, for next season (see previous story).
Due to the existing mutual Fortuna sponsorship, Elias was able to ride a fully liveried machine during the test.
Elias is expected to ride for Herve Poncharal's Tech 3 Yamaha team in 2005, with both of the Frenchman's existing riders – Marco Melandri and Norick Abe – expected to move on. Melandri is thought to joining Sete Gibernau at Telefonica Honda, while Abe's future is unknown.
